Hello! I will be a new chicken owner....and hopefully bringing home some chicks soon. But in the mean time I am trying to get ideas to build a chick coop from wood pallets. If anyone has built one, please tell me what you have success with and what has not worked. Please post pictures if you are able to!

Thanks from Ohio!

Hi, Kfoster.

Here are some projects I was working on last year: https://www.backyardchickens.com/g/a/6222586/chicken-coop-projects/ If you head north on 170 off of 229, you can see them standing in the field to your left at the next crossroad. I'm going to modify my pallet coop design next year and make the next boxes part of the pallet and reduce the size of the roost area for a breeding coop. So take the pallet coop design you see near the bottom of this album and shrink it down a little and that will be next year's project.

I'm using the A-frame as my breeding pen for now and everyone else (8 hamburgs, 2 Buckeye mutts, a Barred rock cockerel and a Golden comet) all roost in the pallet coop. It's a little cozy, but they stay plenty warm in there.

Have you done a search here on the site? I think you'll find quite a few. My favorite pallet coop was built by a woman -- think her name was Judy. Sorry I don't have a link.

We are building ours right now. It's only 3 x 4 and want to talk my husband into making it bigger . Check out our progress under Riggs pallet coop. It's pretty cute so far and we hope to be done this weekend.
