Has anyone ordered from Murray McMurray this year?

I know all our birds that we get from our local feed store is ordered through ideal. I got some easter chicks and they all lived (3 pullets out of 10 chicks....gave away the roos), and should be getting some sex linked pullets anytime now. I think out of the 300 birds ordered around easter they lost 6 in shipping

We ordered 38 chicks from McMurray this year, EE;s, Cochins, Brahmas, partridge rocks, wyandottes. Order placed in Feb. Hatched on April 25 and arrived April 26, all in excellent condition, no obvious (so far) roosters in the bunch. Haven't lost any, appear to be exactly what we ordered, plus our "free exotic" which is a black polish -probably a roo - I wouldn't have ordered one but he's adorable and will be fun to have.
CALL them to verify the hatch/ship date, if you do order. Ours actually came several days earlier than expected and if I hadn't called it could have been really complicated for me (came on a Sunday, I was supposed to be at work, had to "call in chick"). That would be my only complaint - otherwise all went great and they were very nice to deal with.

I've ordered from MM for years and years and never once had a bad order BUT I don't think I've ever ordered in the hot months. My orders typically come in from February to May.

I ordered 25 plus one free rare chick - they sent 27 and all arrived alive and peeping on February 9th. I split the order with another lady - she took 10 and they are all still alive to this day (13.5 weeks later), and of my 17, I lost one over the first night and another the next day and that was it... so in total, we have 25 of 27 still going - all are great and beautiful and healthy. I had a great experience with MM. Nice customer service - the order arrived really quickly with healthy chicks. I did use Gro-Gel and Quick Chick, which they recommend and I would do it again. My one and only tiny complaint, which is hardly a complaint at all, is that our "free rare" chick just turned out to be an extra of what we already ordered. I was hoping for something cool like many people get - I have heard of polish and phoenix, etc, etc, which I thought would be exciting. But since it was free and since the breeds I ordered were "rare" anyway, I really and truly can't complain...

All in all I had a great experience and would recommend McMurray to anyone.

I ordered 11 Dominigues, 5 Sex-link, 10 Buff Brahmas from MM. I received 29 total. I thought I would have fatalities.... no such luck! They are three weeks old and doing great! I am re-homing some to a friend at work. I have 5 Splash Orpingtons that are two months old. I did not want that many. I am re-homing two roosters and several hens to downsize. I will buy from MM again, I am pleased with the birds.

I learned after receiving my order (about 1/3 dead, but it was very cold then) that they always ship on Saturday. For me, being rural and remote and in a place where shipments take longer than to others, I won't use them again for this reason. I would want chicks shipped early in the week to ensure there is no weekend delay involved. I know it is said the mail moves 24/7, but that does not seem to be the case in my locale. Some on here have been able to pick up their chicks at their local PO on a Sunday; also not the case here; no one is ever there on Sunday.

McMurray- Yes... MY STORY!

The cost was high for shipping with McMurray,,, so I expected it to be on time for sure...... well, not so much.....

McMurray sent the chicks a day before a government holiday(they should have been aware that the post was closing for 2 days).

The post office called me 2 days early at 7 o'clock PM and asked me to pick up the chicks at a airport freight area. So, I uprooted my sleeping 2 yearold and schleped us both across town to the international airport in the rain and traffic(25 minutes away)... only to get lost for an hour trying to find the freight depot at the airport. Which is a secure area for national security reasons.


I am thankful that the US Post freight employees noticed my peeping package and called me. I want to give a huge thank you for them going out of their way and calling me. All my chciks were healthy and brooded well.

But, as for McMurray not being cognizent of what the US Post was doing is incompetent. I would not use them for anything other than supply.
