Has anyone ordered from Murray McMurray this year?

I haven't ordered from them directly but the local feed store I get my chicks from, orders from them. I got 4 RIR's and 4 Buff Orp's about 1 1/2 weeks ago and no problems - beautiful chicks.

I ordered from them and was very happy with my order.
The chicks were hatched on a Friday evening, in the mail Saturday morning, and at 7:00 am Sunday I got a call from the main Post Office about an hour away. They wanted to know if I wanted to pick them up that day, or wait for them to get delivered to our local rural Post Office on Monday. We headed down the hill and picked them up. By noon that day everybody was watered, feed, and warm and cozy in the brooder. They were also very helpful with questions we had for them during our ordering and after. We will be ordering from them again.

How did you feed the Gro-Gel? When you first get the chicks I thought you were supposed to sprinkle the starter all over the floor of the brooder and that is supposed to help them get started eating faster. I got some of the GG too, how did you feed it to your chicks? Did you put it on top of the starter in your feeders or did you put some on the floor on top of the feed?

Thanks!.

I got my MM order on May 4, right on schedule. I'd hoped for a Sunday call from the distribution center, like some folks seem to get. But instead I got a call from my local (rural) post office as soon as they opened at 8 am on Monday, zipped over there and got them home by 8:30.

Everyone was loudly peeping and active. Ordered 25, got 27. Lost one the first night (smothered by the others, maybe?) and a tiny quiet chick the second day. But everyone else is going strong since then!

I know some folks on here don't like the Saturday shipment/Monday delivery, but for me it worked out perfectly! I took off work on Monday to receive them (they arrived early enough that I could've still gone in --but why go to work when you can play with chicks??), and my husband planned to take off on Tuesday just in case.

Overall, I was very pleased with the service and quality and would order from them again if I had a chance.

We got our first ever order from MM this past Tuesday. Ordered 25 got 27. They were shipped out on Saturday so four days in the mail - a long way to ship I guess. All arrived alive and doing good. Did also get the funky dunk cute as a bug extra Polish chick too. LOL I am pleased. Mainly ordered from them because of two reasons. First tired of trying to get breeder stock and working with shipped eggs. Second they had what I wanted.....SLW and SS. I have ordered from Ideal in the past, but they didn't have what I wanted since I was delayed waiting on a breeding farm. Would order from both no problems.

Also got the grow gel. I put a feed dish down and put my chick feed in that. I have never just put it on the brooder floor or bottom. I also put shavings down and papertowels on top the first day or so. Anyhow, I mixed half of what they sent for Gro gel and then dropped the glops on top of the chick feed in the dish. There wasn't any left of either by morning! LOL

just edited to say I called my order in last Thursday (week ago) because the internet said limited availability. I was glad I did because only an hour later the internet said unavailable. I just happen to catch them at the right time for what I wanted.

Probably the most important this is to order from a hatchery as close to you as possible. I order from Meyers in Ohio and I have my chicks within 16 hours. I have been tempted to order from Mcmurrays but just know that there may be dead chicks if I do that. I have been very pleased with Meyers.

You mix the gro-gel with water and it makes a jelly-like substance. The chicks love it. I order it from MM and give it to ALL chicks I hatch. I think it makes the difference in the young ones. Oh, and it is bright green/blue which really attracts them to the feed. You can feed it alone or place it on top of the starter feed. I canot say enough good things about it!

I ordered 2 BO, 2 red stars and 25 meaties. They sent 26 meaties. They came in on a Sunday which worked out well for me. All the chicks were healthy and active upon arrival and still are, going on 3 weeks. I will definitely order from them again! I also used the grow gel and they devoured it!
