Yes, we have ordered Red Star from McMurray for several years. They have been great everytime. They lay unbelievably well, have been as cold hardy (and heat) as our buff orpingtions, and are extremely quiet and gentle. The first several months of lay, I would find some already on the nest laying at sunrise. They usually retain a few specks of white with the red. We tried Black Stars this year. They don't lay quite as well, but are a little larger...hopefully making them worth stew at two years old.
I have ordered red stars from McMurray and I agree with Matte. They are excellent layers, easy keepers, and very quiet. Many of mine will have eggs in the nest by the time I let them out at 7:00 a.m.
