Has anyone tried an infared thermometer?

I found an infared thermometer for less than $20. It is supposed to give temperature of an object not the air. Would this work on an egg? If so, what temperature should the egg be?

Ha! We were just talking about one of those here! There is no reason that it would not work. Eggs would need to be 99.5F. The only down side would be the compulsive need to check the egg. Where did you find the thermometer?
