Has anyone tried phantom predator control?

These are the electric boxes that make hissing and growling sounds...Has anyone has any expereince with them? The website selling them makes them sound like the best since sliced bread. Are there any real life opinions?

We have been having increasing problems with fox after four years with nary a problem. Our fence line is quite long and the hubby doesn't feel inclined to dig a trench for fence burying and he laso worries that the fox would just jump the fence anyway.

Foxes are pretty sharp.. I can't help but think they'd figure out the growling box trick pretty quickly, and once they're over it, you're left with an expensive doorstop that growls.

If you can figure out where your biggest fence weaknesses are (gaps underneath come to mind first), you might consider a snare trap. They're non-lethal, as they basically just get the animal's head through a loop of cable and keep them leashed until you come decide what to do next.

Our smallest dog (a 'feist,' as best we know) actually got caught in a neighbor's fox/coyote snare after getting loose one day and trying to go through a little gap under the fence and onto his property.. (The neighbor knew exactly where to set that snare, huh?!?!)

Anyway, my wife found her several hours later.. Her neck was swollen and her eyes were totally bloodshot where she'd fought the snare, but she was otherwise unharmed. We just slipped the snare loose, put the dog in the yard, and made daggone sure she couldn't get out again.

Snares are cheap, too. A google search on 'fox snare' brought up ProSnares.com, and they've got fox snares advertised at $21/doz. I've never done business with ProSnares personally, but that seems to be in line with the going price point for snares -- and there seem to be plenty of places online to get them.

Oh...Might wanna check your local regs on trapping first..
