Mosquito larvae are also known as blood worms and are nutritious. A few goldfish can do wonders. BTI and Altocid briquetts work well, but a fine mesh screen lid will be the least expensive, pesticide free, easiest way.

Olive oil will not work very well in most circumstances unless you cover the entire surface with 1/8 inch of oil. Mineral oil works because it strips there lungs of the ability to absorb oxygen giving them hydrocarbon pneumonia. It's not fatal to drink (when applied at the label rate), but I would rather not if there was a better choice.

There was a lot of water in many various sources, and the pond was mainly for swimming. The pond had no foul smell (in fact the whole yard had no where near the smell you would expect), it might look rank, but that is good old Louisiana pond water. We are not blessed with the clear lakes of Minnesota...

The hoses appeared to be connected to a water well, so they came fresh from the ground to the ground... lol

ROFL ... I knew it ! There was NO way such healthy/happy looking animals had a bad water source.... I Love it ! It's amazing what a bit of love and close attention can achieve .... But They must keep quite a lot of water flowing there ,,, The whole geography is so different to here...

Being as though I know where this hobby farm is, I knew that they had to have other water sources just by looking at the set up on the video. I don't have a pond but I have MANY water stations throughout the 1/2 acre set up. I change my waterers out for my chickens twice a day. My ducks and geese love to get into the round rubber waterers. With that many animals, one has to keep water flowing all over the place. It's a must.

As you said, the whole geography is so different. We are just good ole kuntry folks in South Louisiana that love their animals.

This is one of the reasons I love this forum.... Little "Gems" of info. I gotta say Louisiana is one state I have not been to, that I would love to visit.​
