Train the deaf to hand signals now culling is frowned on I never had the displeasure to do that but it is a fact of history

I am totally on board with having dogs trained to hand signals!!
Even hearing dogs benefit from the training. It is so much easier to control them in noisy situations when they are trained to signals.....and it helps keep them focused on the handler. Obey the signal, get tiny treat training worked for mine.

We say that dog hair is a condiment here use a shop vac all hardwood floors here

HAHAHA!! I thought I was the only one! :highfive:

I don't get this? My dog has some ear mites which were treating for but that's it.. she seems fine other than that?
All hearing creatures (to my knowledge) have hair inside the ear that assist in hearing, something about white hair makes it unfit for that task, so, not all, but a significant percentage of white animals are deaf, I have a blue eyed white cat who can hear, but obviously not well, and a lot of white dogs are deaf.
There is some evidence that that is why "Medicine Hat Paint" horses exist, is that in the wild, a spotted horse stood as good of a chance of surviving as any other, but, if the ears were white, then they couldn't hear or at least not as well so they got picked off. Over the years, it got to the point where the very last part of a horse to go white with a spot pattern is the ears due to the ones with white ears not living long enough to breed.
