Has anyone used Vicks on chicken?

We don't have VetRx available here and I read it is similar to human Vicks VapoRub. Has anyone used Vicks on chicken? I have a hen with stridor and I am treating her with Tetracycline, but would like to switch to some natural product.
Stridor usually will resolve on it's own in 24hours or so.

We were never able to see the video in your other thread.
If she's had symptoms this long, then likely you are dealing with a respiratory disease.
Have you finished the course of Tetracycline - has that made any difference in her symptoms?

I know my last reply on your thread may have come across a bit smart, but I was trying to get you to "think". If you were administering medication already, then surely you would know dosing and length of treatment, correct?

You can try Vicks Vapor Rub, it may not hurt, but if you are dealing with a respiratory disease and the antibiotics are not helping, then likely it's a virus. Having plenty of ventilation in the coop is always a good idea.

I'm sorry you're hen is not well.

Good morning. Thank you for the response. I reposted the video and you should be able to see it now.

I administered tetracycline pills for 5 days , and she is completely healed. I don't know dosage and length as we do not have vets here. Sometimes I call the manufacturer and ask them, so this tetracycline was manufactured by a company that makes pigeon products only and I tried to calculate the dosage myself. The manufacturer said 5-7 days.
The chicken are free range, so they are well ventilated 🙂
I didn't know stridor resolves on its own, thank you. I am hoping to use Vicks on my neighbor hens. Two of them have such a secret respiratory problem that their eyes have been blocked by swelling.

The video is still listed as private.

So your hen is all better and healed now? That's great!

You are asking about your neighbor's birds that are sick? Do you have photos of them?
Are the eyes blocked with pus?

Hello, so here is the link to the video. I think I finally managed to make it public (first time uploading on Youtube) Hen having difficulty breathing
So she has recovered with tetracycline, BUT I have some questions about this stridor... what is causing it? I have another one just started 5min ago and I am wondering what could be the common cause for it?
My neighbour's chicken - he had 5 which he had bought from the market, we call them 2nd hand as they are layers which have been used by companies for 1 year and afterwards they are being sold at a minimum price. Anyway, they all had some respiratory problems, eyes were blocked with pus and swollen. I started with tetracycline + Vicks, but it did not help and 1 died. Then I changed the antibiotic to Lincomycin and praise God all the 4 recovered and they have laid the first egg today! So now my only small problem is one of my flocks which has chicken ticks and I have been trying to eliminate these nasty bugs, so far unsuccessfully. I have posted on another thread about that though.. Ah and if you happen to know what is causing stridor, so my other hen does not suffer... would appreciate some guidance.

Looks more like respiratory disease. You had to use antibiotics to clear it up.
Stridor usually resolves on it's own within a few hours.

Sounds like your neighbor may have gotten birds that have respiratory disease as well. Birds can be carriers and disease is easily transmitted between flocks, so if you are visiting his birds then yours without practicing good biosecurity your just spreading it around.
