Has the file size for avatars changed???

I want to change my avatar. I resized the picture using photobucket like I always do and saved it to my computer. I went to upload my avatar and it's saying the picture is to big.

I want to use this picture:

Anyone know what's going on with avatars???

Check the "size on disk" of your picture. It is 14.9 KB (15,303 bytes) and 16.0 KB (16,384 bytes) on disk. So the file is too big.

How do I make it smaller? I used photobucket to resize it like I've always done. I don't know how to make it any smaller.
