Hatch #3 went bad & Egg exploded in my face

Ok, so far this Fall we have had:

Batch #1: Our leghorn mutts eggs & Hinkjc's Buffs - 70% hatch rate

Batch #2: More of our Leghorn mutts - 80% hatch rate
Anyone want some Leghorns??

Batch #3: 2 Ebay purchases - 10 Campines & 12 Mutt mixes - 35% hatch rate
& 2 CAMPINE EGGS BLEW UP IN MY FACE WHEN I DID THE FINAL CHECK!!!

One was really bad. It blew up all over me when I opened the top.
It smelled like a sulfer pit and even the dogs were gagging. I never
knew this could happen. OH IT WAS NASTY!!!

This only happened with 2 Campine eggs. The second egg wasn't bad
because I covered it.

I have two more batches at day 14. Batch #4 is 24 Delawares bought on
Ebay. Batch #5 is 30 of Hinkjc's & Speckledhens eggs. Now I'm getting
nervous.

Temps are steady around 100. Humidity is 40-50 and then 60-70 after
day 18.

Have you been candleing the eggs? I can see pretty quickly if there is movement by day 7, 14 and 18.

That must have been horrible to get on you...eewww! I thought it was funny that you said the dogs were even gagging.

I don't blame anyone for laughing. It's kinda funny in hindsight but I hope
none of you experience it.

Ewww, that's bad.

I had a group of shipped eggs that started weeping and it looked like they were growing alien fungus.
Nasty stuff!

Do you know what causes the egg to explode? Was the egg no good and you just did not know?
