So I am currently hatching button quails and I am on day 18 and so far out of 11 of them only one hatched, on day 16. Do you know how much longer I need to wait? The one that hatched is very lonely and keeps chirping and is a bit weak, it would be great if he gets a friend.

I'm not really sure about timing, or if it's ok to "disturb" the eggs at this point, but if you candle them now can you see movement inside or anything? See if they're alive?

Hmm.. we had ones hatch on day 21, so try and hold tight.. also, buttons have nutoriously bad hatch rates, so who knows how many will hatch.. could you spend some time with the lone baby?

Yea, I dont think I will disturb them, just gonna try to wait sometime longer

I had a horrible time trying to hatch button quail. Both times I had only one hatch a day early out of over a dozen. The rest never hatched. Both times I gave the single baby a small mirror and a stuffed easter chick. But within a few days the babies learned their "friends" did not react to them and I think they figured out it was fake. Anyway, shortly after they stopped interacting with the toy and mirror they stopped eating/drinking and died. I've never tried buttons again, but had great luck with coturnix

Oh, that's sad, sorry you had to go through that.
