I set 21 eggs in a Farm Innovations styrofoam incubator that the local school district purchased for school hatches. They liked the work I've been doing with my brinsea, but I only have one incubator.

We set them on Wednesday, April 24. We struggled with some low temps in the beginning, and we had to hand turn all of the eggs. Because the school is inaccessible on the weekends, they went from Friday at 4pm to Monday at 8:30 am each weekend without being turned.

About two weeks in, I candled them all, and found 19 of the 21 were doing great.

My plan (ooooh, the best laid plans of mice and men!) was to come in to the school this afternoon and put it into lockdown and candle everyone again, make sure everyone was still alive. Then I got a text from the kindergarten teacher that four of the eggs have pipped. Oh. Well then. So I rushed over and got the webcam set up and cranked up humidity. One chick hatched about 1.5 hours ago. Six more have pipped.

For the most part, they are all exotic barnyard mixes. There's a possibility of purebred french black copper marans and golden laced polish. I also had a legbar rooster, but I didn't put any pure legbar hen eggs in this hatch. Possible mothers are olive eggers, lavender ameraucanas, penciled hamburg, EE, blrw, rir, sex link, frizzled ameraucana, etc etc.
