And sorry about the remaining eggs/chicks i hope the little baby gets well soon

and atleast you got some out of it right?

I don't believe in bad hatches i feel as long as you get one or more than one then it's a hatch
smile.png
and if non hatch then i see it as a learning process ... so when you start again you learn from your pass mistakes

for some reason some of the bobwhite chicks and the pheasant chick had a kinda dry hatch witch is weird cuz i never open the bator since friday when i took the last silkie egg out and put in the other bator so the bator with the quail and pheasant eggs has not been open since friday and the humidity has been staying 65 to 75% since then
hmm.png

oh well i'm just happy there hatching

You're right - it was a bad hatch, but not entirely a loss!!! I do have 5 (hopefully 6!) healthy chicks. And the best news is that not only did DBF buy me a new incubator that just came today (will make 3), he also ordered 45 more coturnix eggs!!! FORTY FIVE!!!

Edited to add - I could not get the humidity above 60% for the last 3 days and before that, I could barely get it to 40%. Don't know what the deal was. Chicken eggs in the other bator are fine! Who knows...

I can't wait to see your bobs and pheasants!!!!

Case in point here with the bobwhites...
It's 10:45 am here. I looked in this morning, all 12 still just pipped. An hour ago... still just pipped. I was just sitting here at the computer, and heard peep peep peep from behind me... I look in, 4 have hatched, and the remaining 8 are zipping as I type this. I can hear each voice as it is added to the choir when they hatch.

They were due Sunday. So far so good!

I'm not sure, but the dark ones will likely be a chocolate color. I have one that was almost pure black, like a penguin, that turned the prettiest chocolate brown. The offspring has just a hint of blue in the breast feathers.

I have one like that too - aren't they pretty??! I had no idea it was blue until it got loose while I was cleaning the cage and I actually looked at it!!! One of the 4 week olds I have is dark chocolate now with the cinnamon breast - very pretty!

Well, not to hijack the post...but #6 is still alive but STILL not walking. Doesn't seem to be able to get up. One leg keeps going out to the side, and the toes on the other are still curled. It is eating though and I just gave it some water but I just don't know.

Still nothing on the other eggs

But my new incubator came today - woo hoo!!!!

I can't wait to see the pheasant pics!!!! Congrats on your hatches!!!!

sounds like the one I have from my last hatch. One leg is ok and the other one it seems to favor. It hops around on its good leg. I tried to use the bandaid to fix it and a piece of duck tape under the toes to straighten them out but it kept getting them off somehow. I finally decided it was happier without the fuss. It is doing fine now on its own.
Good luck.

Well, I'm HOPING it'll be ok eventually but not holding out alot of hope. If it could at least get up and hop on one leg I'd feel better, but it just scoots around - neither leg works. That can't be good. Glad yours is ok though! I just knew I should have helped it out sooner but I normally don't like to help because they end up with more problems. But this time I'm kicking myself for not doing it.
