Howdy all,
Well, the first bator hatch wasn't too good. It started out with week old eggs and ended with an early hatch (18 days) and only 11 survivors of 27 fertile eggs. The post analysis shows I screwed up early and near the end. The dead ones looked like balut with a dead soggy chick. The humidity was 32% during the incubation and 48% during the hatch BUT - where I think I screwed up was when I found the chicks pipping at 18d I opened up and removed the turner. In the future I will just unplug it. Batch 2 in the Roll-X is due tomorrow. No pipping yet but of the 60+ eggs started, 40+ looked good on day 18. None of the Shamo eggs developed and a few BCM eggs didn't develop fully, but the shipped phoenix eggs look pretty good, as do the grey-radio cross eggs. I hope to get a few broody hens from that group.
Anyway, I post chick pics when I get them in the brooder.
