Well the hatch is over once again. This was my group that was exposed to 111 degrees for God knows how long one day. Out of 19 set in the beginning, I set 7 eggs on day 18. One was questionable at that point but I didn't want to take a chance that it might be still alive. Four hatched out. Checked the other three this morning. Two look like they died somewhere between 18 and 21...why?...why?...why? The other looks like it died around day 16 or so. That was the questionable one. But on the bright side...the four that hatched look great! I was afraid they would look like "one eyed one horned flying purple people eaters" !!

Very cute chicks.

There was something developmentally wrong with the ones that didn't hatch. They may have looked perfect and complete but they were not. It is better for them to never hatch than to have to cull them later. two or three days with a lingering sick chick is heartbreaking and distressing. For me it is better they never hatch at all.

Can you tell if they will frizzle from the moment they hatch? I have frizzle eggs coming:yiipchick

They are so cute! I love the color of the partridge one!

Isn't that partridge color beautiful? I don't think you can tell about the frizzle immediately...they don't look any different than the black or partridge today. But I do know that within a week when their feathers start coming in, you can tell it immediately.

Thanks for posting pics, My eggs are frizzle cochin bantams. So far I havr a black with yelloe mustache, like the one you said would be black. And A reddish brown and black on like your front oe, it unfortunatly is the fdeformed one. My third is yellow with a wide brown strip down back, that is outlined in black, a zig-zag shaped strip, like lightning, on it's ace with black lining it again, and various brown spots on it's head, and back, outlined in black. Anyone have any idea what color that one will be? Thanks Ya'll, and thanks again for the pic
