Eastern Shore - my happy place...
My Cochin has been faithfully sitting on 2 eggs for 14 days. Candled both eggs at 10 days and all looked good.
Yesterday when I got home at 6:30 pm, she was in a different nest by mistake. I am not sure how long her two eggs where un covered. They were not toasty warm to the touch like they should be. It was about 80 degrees here yesterday and the eggs felt like the ambient air temp. Hubby said he gathered eggs at approx. 2:00 and she was sitting on them then. Do you think there is any hope they will still hatch??

Yes, I think there's a very good chance they will still hatch. Keep up with her, hopefully she won't do it again. I had one that would jump every day or two. That was bad. Once in two weeks isn't so bad. If you have the space, you can always isolate her so she can't do that, as long as she will settle back down to sit. Odds are another hen pushed her off her nest or was in it after she took a break and she just picked another.

Thanks all! This is her first rodeo and she is also low on pecking order. Probably pushed off because she has been very dedicated this far. I moved her to her own little prefab type coop I use as a grow out pen. She has the place to herself and no one can get in to bully her off her nest again. It sits inside the big chicken run so she is still within eye shot of her friends.

Update - One hatched. It is the EE hen and Welsummer Rooster egg. Classic Chipmunk. Keeping fingers crossed it is a girl. Might get an olive egger with that cross?? Named her Olive to encourage her to be a SHE and to lay dark green eggs LOL!
If a roo, will have to re home him because I have enough roosters already. :idunno
