I had 124 eggs. 18 never developed at all 20 did not hatch but were developed. First question is how do I figure the hatch %? Second question, for a first time hatch would you consider that successful?

I am not a math person so can't help you with the %, but yes, that is a VERY successful hatch. Good job!

Yes, 86/106 = 81%. You don’t count the infertile eggs as nothing you do will make them hatch. That’s a good hatch rate!

I don't count unfertilized eggs, as they never would have hatched. So I would just calculate the developed, not hatched eggs in.
Others are counting all set eggs.

First case you got 86 hatched from 106 eggs ... makes 86x100/106=81.13% a very good result

Second case you got 86 hatched from 124 eggs ... makes 86x100/124=69.35% still really good, especially regarding to all eggs counted in.
