This rooster looks like a splash but the mom was black duckwing carring columbian and the father was a blue birchen. He has a brother that is regular blue birchen but he looks like a splash even though only is father carried the blue gene.

Sometimes blue birds can be extremely dark and look almost black. Could that be the case for the mother? But blue tends to blur the duckwing base so I feel like it would be a bit obvious. What do you mean by carrying Columbian though? Since Columbian is a dominant gene, the hen is either going to express it or not. She would have a yellow breast if she has the gene.

The mother was rescued as a feral chick she carried only 1 copy of Columbian gene and I believe was pure ducking base. She has had at least 5 batches of between 9-13 chicks before the batch this rooster hatched out from with at least 4 other roosters that didn't carry blue and almost all chicks were ducking and not a single blue one. Also the rooster when hatched was ducking with pale almost white/grey stripes and the birchen father I believe was split for wheaten, so i believe he is a duckwing split wheaten.
