I lost my first girl, Skye, today. So sad. It's very windy here and she ended up getting out of my run some how. My Doberman got her. She was alive when I got to her, but died on the way to the vets. I'm so sad. She was the first one I hatched, 19 weeks old.

So I bought 12 chicks last spring, straight run... And the rest is history. Well no. Between the dog and a hawk we've lost a few, and culled a couple rooster, 2 with no luck, they've earned the right to live. NOW. I HAVE 8hens 3rooster 3 guineas, 14 chicks 3week old my friend hatched from my hens eggs. I'm trying like hell to get my hen to brood on a nest of now 8eggs(Im certain Shes going to) and I've got a muscovy duck building up a nest with now 4 eggs to brood on. I have 2 homemade bators going, one with 3 of my ducks 1st eggs and the other has 2 mallard and 7 chicken eggs!!!! Should I be concerned.....

Today is day 18 for my 18 eggs in my Brinsea! These eggs did not fair as well during shipping ( I know there are about 4 clears but I didn't pull them previously. I will tonight), but I am still hopeful for a decent hatch. I have removed them from the turner and will candle one final time tonight, when it is dark. Out of all my hatches, these have been the most hands off due to family stresses/crisis that is ongoing.

I really need some little fluff butts to offset the worries and stress of everything else... and after losing my Skye girl yesterday. I am so paranoid now to let my older birds out of their coop into the run since I don't have netting up yet. Won't be able to order any till probably next week. Guess the dogs will have limited access to the yard for the next week or so.

My second incubator is due to hatch on Easter! I am looking forward to hearing babies chirping again...

Ugh getting worried now, day 21 one hatched, one pipped and partially zipped and nothing happening in 15 other eggs...
