Hi we just hatched four chicks one of them looks rhode island red the other two look nova gen (mom is nova gen dad is either RIR or nova gen) but one of these guys is different than the others so can someone tell me if he is still a nova gen or RIR or if he maybe has a different parent and we didn't know? What are the odds he is a nova gen or rhode island? Or is this possibly the coloring I just didn't know they had

Breeding Novagens together gives you mixed breed. They are a first generation only sex linked hybrid, so you won't be able to tell the gender by down color.

I think the darker chick probably has an unknown parent. I'd expect a much lighter colored chick from Novagen parents and Novagen x Rhode Island red parents.

But if it has to be one or the other, then I think the RIR would be one of the parents.

Thanks! I thought it didn't look like either rir or nova gen so I might have to call the guy we got them from and confirm if he only has novagens
