My first 3 chicks hatched and 1 has fuzz all over it but the other two only have fuzz on their bodies and the tops of their heads. the back of their head and neck is completely bare, just pink skin. Is that normal?

Are they Turkens? Otherwise known as Naked necks? Your description sounds just like them and if so its normal.

the eggs are from mixed breeds. I picked them up from someone I found online. they showed me most of their chickens when I picked up the eggs. They were free ranging. I didn't see any that didn't have feathers on their necks. The eggs they hatched from were brown if that helps at all.

Even if you did not see any Turkens/Naked Necks on the farm, it does not mean they could not be carrying the gene for it. Otherwise I have no explanation.

Is this a rare breed? I've never seen any before. I didn't see any on the pages for the hatcherys. Although I guess you don't see them a lot because they only come out for holloween.
