Hello everyone,
First of all sorry for my English. We have hatched 7 goslings with an incubator. The last one's leg is turned inward. Its legs are strong as it seems but he cannot walk very well because it has no balance. I tried to create a shoe to open the toes but the leg keeps turning inside. I have read for niacin deficiency but I was wondering is it possible for three days goslings? What can I do to fix its leg? Create a boot? I have searched all over the web but I find only solutions for splayed legs and crooked legs.

Thank you very much

Have you tried a hobble, as for splayed leg? Without a photo, it's difficult to see what's going on with the foot. Can you post a photo?

Sometimes vitamin deficiencies can start in the egg, I would supplement with niacin for sure but sometimes deficiencies in other vitamins can be the cause as well, like thiamine for example, so if you can find a b vitamin complex that might be better than just supplementing with niacin.

I have no expierience with making a shoe so unfortunately I’m no help there but I hope you do find the information you’re looking for.

My father told me that he is adding vitamins for geese in their water already. But we will ask the vet for a B vitamin complex. Thank you very much for your answer. If anyone have something else to propose for a boot or something it would be helpful.

I'd also start with a corrective "flipper" like the one shown in this thread. And I'd also add a "tether" of the type used for splay/spraddle leg (Vetrap works well) to help keep the feet in proper position. With goslings, I err on the side of caution and treat for splay leg immediately if there appears to be an unusually wide stance, and have had it correct within a few days. Best of luck!!

Ok! Thank you very much

A word of hope, my hybrid canada pet goose couldnt walk when he first hatched and his feet were a lil similar, but both and not as extreme. With practice he learned to walk at around 1 week and its mostly corrected with a lil help. With him i believe it was a developmental issue as he also couldn't swim till he was 5ish weeks old. He is now 2, a big happy healthy boy who loves water and runs with the kids. He walks a little different then others and he slides his feet so we make sure hes not walking on concrete (sidewalk) for too long during walks but other then that NO ISSUES. ❤ heres a video of his silly self ❤
