We hatched 4 Ayam Cemani chicks and two eggs from our hens a week ago and also bought a few meat chicks that same weekend. Then my wife went to the feed store yesterday for some chick starter... and came home with two bags of chick feed, 3 silkie chicks, two mystery chicks that were tiny little fluffs- she felt bad for them being so small and the lady threw them in for free BECAUSE she also bought 6 Red Bourbon poults. She said she remembered I mentioned wanting turkeys and that I like Kentucky Asses (like a Moscow Mule but with bourbon instead of vodka and served in a mason jar instead of a copper mug).

So now I have a half dozen striped poults eating me out of house and home along with what look like a million chicks ranging from the size of a fuzzy gumdrop to ten-day-old Baby Huey Cornish X's.

Pray for me. And send bourbon.

Sorry, the bourbon stays here. You'll be too busy building bird housing to have time to drink it anyway!
What a group! this will be interesting, at least. How about some cute pictures here? Love chick pictures, and ours aren't arriving until after April 14th. So far none have 'followed me home' from the feed store either. So far...

Don't be to upset with your wife 😅. When you own chickens it's basically a curse to walk within 20 feet of a feed store. It's like the chicks just gravitate to you and you can't escape. Suddenly they're in your house and you just don't know what happened 😂.

I'm not upset at all; I do want turkeys. Now I have to buy $lumber$ to build a turkey house and fencing to build a pen.

No pics yet; I had Resurrection Day dinner then jumped into my tractor trailer to deliver a load of paint to a store in Lubbock for tomorrow morning. Maybe I can get some pics after the turnaround.

well good luck to you. I think your wife's gone overboard though by the sounds of it. I doubt it will be her building all these brooders and coops you'll soon need with just a few hours planning notice. I think you will need to visit the feed store for more waterers but I wouldn't risk sending her, she'll come home with more

Ugh. I noticed the sku's written on the cartons for the first turkeys and second turkeys were different and checked the receipts. The first ones were Red Bourbon poults but the second ones were... Broad Breasted Bronze poults. It seems they ran out of RB's and my wife didn't notice the change.

Oh well. I prefer turkey to chicken so it'll work out.
