Thank you all for taking the time to reply - you have got me all keen to try again and document it this time. Of course this all happened about 20 years ago and my life has become a lot more hectic now. I would love to do it again for my grandchildren to watch them hatching but as I live in the city and my neighbours are'nt animal people I would have to give the chickens away and that defeats the purpose.
We really didn't expect the eggs to hatch and if they hadn't I would'nt have bothered again.
Yes it was a bit difficult keeping the temp even.
Good luck if you try this method - you never know I just might have another go.

That's amazing. I'd probably have better luck with a frying pan than the incubator I have. I just had a horrible hatch.
