Hatched with one eye?

SO far we have had 20 chicks out of 58 hatch healthy, then just before I left last night, there was one that was almost out of his shell. When I came in this morning, he was dried off and moving around but it looks like about a 3" piece of intestine was hanging out his rear. There was also another chick that had hatched during the night that seems to have only one eye and a crooked beak. It's not that the eye is stuck closed, that side of his head is flatter.
I know there is no chance for the one with the prolapsed intestines, but has anyone had a chick hatched like this one?

I never had one born with one eye. I currently have a cockeral who is blind. As far as the beak I am sure someone will reply to you about that. Good Luck

We have had a chick hatch with no eyes at all. It didn't make it. Are you sure that the one with the "prolapse" just hasn't lost its umbilical cord yet??

Looks like the little guy is one of the many who hatch with a birth defect. Most defect chicks don't make it to the end. With a missing eye, and crooked beak, I'd say the little guy has a skull defect. Not much you can do about it. The beak will probably get worse as it ages. Up to you if you have the time to care for the little one, but if you do keep it, just don't use it as a breeder and make sure he can live a "good" life. Best of luck! Stuff like this does happen.

The one with the prolapse, it is definately intestines. I don't expect him to make it thru the night. If he does, I will put him down tomorrow. We do have a hen with a beak that looks like this one, (no, no chance of it being his mother, she is a black polish!) it's at least as bad. I figure if the little guy can eat drink and poop ok, I'll give him a chance

I had a duck that hatched without 1 eye. The other eye was present but he was blind. He would twirl in circles. He got to be VERY protective of himself and the other poultry
left him alone. I would carefully set him in an area with food and water. He always found it.At night he was put away in the barn.
He would try to attack me when I picked him up
until I would whisper 'It's okay Pirate, I love you' He would relax then since he knew I wouldn't hurt him. He was taken by a fox one day when i wasn't home. He was a special little guy.....

4 days old and little Cyclops seems to be eating, drinking and pooping normally. He can see out of the other eye. He has eyelids, just no eyeball. The lids are sort of stuck together, not gaping open, so infection/contamination isn't a factor for now. I'll try to get pics tomorrow.
I took a couple today and some really nice ones of my mare with my cell phone...which neglected to inform me that it's photo storage was full. GRRR!
