Newly hatched chick with bulging eyes

No, it is just struggling to find the food and stuff. I am pretty sure that right now it just can’t see. It doesn’t really move from where it is at under the brooder and rarely peeps.
Likely blind. Many would decide to cull a blind chick, but it’s up to you. If you’re willing to put the effort into hand feed her and likely end up with a disabled adult hen, it’s your choice. I’ve researched many threads here as well as online and it seems like the common consensus is that these chicks either are or become blind and sometimes experience failure to thrive or die. It’s hard to watch, so if I was in your position I’d probably cull. Congrats on your other healthy chicks :hugs

This is him at just over a month, named squeaker. His vision seems to have improved at least a little bit and can definitely see a little. Fed him wet chick feed for the first four weeks or so and is now able to find (and see) the feeder and waterer on his own, and is so far getting along amazingly with his quail brothers and sisters. He loves to cuddle and perch, but can’t quite figure out how to dust bathe yet.
