Hatcheries

I know many people who have ordered from Meyer Hatchery and have been happy. I would recommend not ordering chicks until the spring, because it is very cold out now, and some of the chicks will probably end up dying. Good luck.

I called my post office today and asked if they had any poultry delivered to them as I was expecting some, he put me on hold and came back and said no. He then said if they did it was already out on the mail truck for delivery. I said WHAT, you cant do that , these need to be picked up at the post office. He said then I guess we don't have any. I'm a bit scared that mine will not be treated very well, doesn't seem like they have ever gotten day old chicks before. I have my fingers crossed. I did however check my mailbox several time today, no chicks in there.

Hopefully I get a call real early tomorrow! The wait is the worst!

i had already called the post office on tuesday and the area i live in is so small i have received letter with just my first name on it and town....

I am not too worried when I called ahead to let them know to expect them The post office lady was excited they were coming . I half expect to find her cuddling them.

Smaller town/rural post office employees are great to deal with usually, my first chicks arrived after hours, and rather than hold them for the next day, she called, and waited for me to get there.....just let them know AHEAD of time you have chicks on the way, and make sure they have a phone number to get a hold of you

I knew to call ahead I gave them my phone numbers but when I say small town umm village might be more fitting. the town that the post office is in has like 750 people. It might serve 1200 people.

In the same boat here. Funny my husband said "have you been posting". Tiny 'town' in IL, chicks from ideal, no shipping info... I also called ideal on Tuesday. Waiting stinks!

Well I finally got a tracking number but it does no good. According to USPS the shipment is still in Texas, never scanned thru the sort facility. I sure hope they are wrong cause they will never survive that long.
