We just purchased a dozen baby chicks last week and this morning I noticed in their water it looked like a small roundworm. No other reason for it to be anything else since they are only a week or so old and just with each other in a brooder. Is this even possible at their age? Any help and guidance would be appreciated

It's highly unlikely that these babies have worms. But not totally impossible.

You've probably tossed the "worm", but in the future, have a magnifying lens at hand to examine the specimen. A worm will have definite features such as segmented body and a definite head.

More likely the "worm" you saw was a tiny bit of intestinal lining that a chick had pooped out. That brings up another issue. The chicks should not have a water source they can wade around in and poop in.

That is what I was reading and yes it was tossed. My husband wanted a picture of it as well.
Our chicks have the small watering containers, so maybe 1/2 to 3/4 inch of water is in the base a time.
