Hatchery help

Most hatcheries are only going to sell straight run for chicks. Your better to try to find a local breeder or buy from the hatchery and order the minimum especially if they have what you want. Whatever you order you may lose a couple so ordering a few extra would make up for that. If you end up with more than you want you can always sell a few. Plus you have a better odds of getting pullets. It is like playing the lottery. Good luck
Go to their websites and look at their charts. They offer hens, straight runs or roos only. Most do not sex Bantams.

Buy local.
It is spring time. Chick fever season. Every feed store in our area has chicks or a community cork board with local people posting FOR SALE.
We are breeding big time right now and sell out immediately on craigslist in a snap. There are tons of locals breeding right now. PLUS YOU GET TO PICK what is right in front of you. Not somebody miles away chucking chicks in a box and slapping a stamp on it.
Plus you are helping your local economy and keeping your money in local hands.
I definitely agree. I’ve always bought mine local cause buying local is one of my things. Got 10 babies this year from local family feed store and my babies last year came from guy I work with who has raised chickens pretty much his whole life. I think that’s why I posted this. It does make me somewhat nervous to have a chicken shipped from a place I’ve never seen. I was just Looking for two specific breeds I can never find. I never did think of craigslist. I’m with you 100% I’m buying local. Even if I had ordered some this year I don’t think it would be a normal thing I would do I got too nervous and I never did Order any. I’ve actually never been on craigslist and I give it a peek. Thanks for the suggestion
