Hatchery Stock Thread

Gosh, Reba is BEAUTIFUL!

Well, many years past I ordered some gold and silver sebrights from Murry Mcmurry. Well, low and behold, for one reason or another I gave one of the gold sebrights to my vet, and she gave it to her neighbor kid. I thought they were very nice quality. Well, darn if that kid didn't win "Best Bird of Show" (they called it something else) at the Puyallup fair, which is the big one around here. So, it had to be pretty good. I thought that was something else.

I've always been happy with MM stuff, but now I am into showing (just starting) and am no onger getting hatchery stock so no new stories. But wanted to share that as I thought it a grand story of a little hatchery bird!

The Welsummer lays a nice dark egg 4-5 days per week

top row : middle ( unfortunately, the flash seems to wash out the color, all the eggs are much more vivid in person..)

Here are my MPC girls - all a year and a half now:
Dixie and June Bug have been best buds since they were tiny chicks. June Bug (BA) is my boss hen...

It's funny, but the two other pullets I have are from breeders, and both have had more issues than my hatchery girls. One has never tamed down, and the other I suspect has internal laying issues. Love my hatchery girls!
