Has anyone had any trouble with Meyer Hatchery in Polk Ohio? This will be my 3rd attempt at getting chickens. The last two times they were unable to fill my orders because of bad hatches. After the first bad hatch, they assured me they would have plenty of chickens to fill my order (475 projected hatch, I only wanted 75)...well they didn't have enough to fill my order, so I am ordering for a 3rd time with a pick up date of May 7th. I thought I would have been put on a priority list since the first order was delayed. Not a chance.....I have feeling they filled all the orders for the local farms stores and not mine.....due to the fact that more Urban Farmers are choosing to raise chickens. This is 2 months after I had originally ordered and expected to pick up my chicks. I am wondering if I should order from another company. Then I thought is was a sign that I really wasn't supposed to have chicks this year. I was half tempted to buy them from the farm store. Maybe next year I will have too.
I like to get them early so I can get a good start on the egg laying, but I will be way off this year. I also ordered Guineas for June,,,,,now I am getting nervous.
Let me know if you all have had any issues or can rcommend a hatchery, I have used Meyers for most of my chicks, other than a few store bought or ones I hatched myself, because I can pick them up right at Meyers, which is about 40 minutes from my home.
