hatchery vs breeder???

Sounds like I was on the right track with my thinking. We breed rabbits and have invested in good stock from showing breeders.

I haven't decided if it's a blessing or a curse but with 5 kids, 3 in 4H (other two are to young still) but we have quite a few different breeds going on. God forbid they should all agree on one kind. I don't really mind and am pretty handy with the drill and circular saw so building coops for all thier trios and pairs has been fun and has kept me busy.

Like most I've built some and am now at the point of upgrading...so starting all over with bigger and better.

At this point all the chickens we have are from breeders...and we have alot of feather footed (cochin's mainly) so my current projects are to build the coops with that in mind to avoid breakage and dirty feet feather. The last breeder I went to had amazing coops and we bought 3 pairs, a trio, and an extra roo and not a single feather on thier feet was broken. Needless to saw he aloowed me to snap pics of his coops and I'm modifying his idea to suit our property. Gonna be fun...but the feathers on these chickens feet were amazing!

BYC is great though. I've been a member for quite awhile and posted a intro a few months ago but have mostly been a lurker. Via this site though I've found a link to a website that I was able to order the kids serama eggs to hatch (my daughters want to show serama's so bad in 4H and then to hatch eggs to they just can't wait!) and I found a breeder for the favs my autistic son wants. YAY:).
