Ridgerunner, thank you for your thoughtful post. Everything you said makes sense. Perhaps I misunderstood Roo5, when I objected to the characterization of a hatchery SLW as a production breed. I think of those as the hybrid breeds you mentioned. I am well aware that my hatchery BO looks different from a BO bred for show but I expect all BOs (as an example) to have the same general characteristics of gentleness, cold hardiness, good laying, broodiness, etc.
