Mamato3. one thing to think about. If you get chicks now, they will be all ready to lay in the spring and will lay eggs all spring and all summer.. If you get them in the spring, they will start laying late summer and then slow down for the winter.
Point of lay hens tend to sell for a very good price early in the spring because nobody has any for sale. So, you could order exactly what you want, plus an extra 10 and sell the extra 10 early in the spring as point of lay hens and probably pay for your entire bunch that you are keeping.
It doesn't matter when you get them, they have to be under brooder lamps until they are feathered. Once they are feathered, they can be acclimated to the weather. I just can't imagine that Missouri is too cold for chickens.
