Hatchery

Mt Healthy still has chicks and they are great! Ideal is a little bit out for ordering most, but both allow single birds of breeds to be ordered!

My local feed store uses Privett, therefore I use Privett since I pick them up same day they arrive after they've had a chance to warm up and be well. The difference in cost is substantial since I'm not paying for shipping of a small order (I only do 3 to 6.) So I highly recommend going the local feed store route even if you have to drive a bit. That way you can possibly reserve and get a mix.

I have been checking out hatcheries for bantams, but those that carry bantams have shipping dates well into summer and fall. I'm probably going to go local.

Tractor Supply has just posted Chick Days are starting February 22nd.

What do y'all think of their chick care list?

I find the list of things NOT to do funny!
Because I have raised hatchlings of coturnix quail and bantam chickens in my kitchen in a huge plastic tub!!!
🙀

I've only ordered chicks from Meyer. 14 hens, 1 rooster. 10 different breeds. I ordered them in April, for an August 28th hatch date. They were sexed. And they nailed it 100%. They're all happy and healthy. If I order chicks again, I'd definitely order from them again.

For pullets I have:
1x Blue (BBS) Ameraucana
1x Buff Orpington
1x Cream Legbar
1x Rhode Island Red
1x Black Jersey Giant
1x Frizzled Easter Egger
2x Fibro Easter Eggers
2x Black Copper Marans
2x Buff Brahmas
2x Cookies & Cream
And my cockerel is a Blue (BBS) Ameraucana.
