Ok so first off I'm confused, I just got my eggs today and almost all 22 of them had detached /saddle cells :( so I put them in cartons to sit (aircell up) until tomorrow. My question is can I keep them in the carton or maybe at a 45-50 degree angle during incubation until lockdown or earlier because of the aircells? I know not all the cells will re-attach so will it be ok to lay them sideways with a bad aircell??? also what is a good humidity for calls?? I was thinking 50-65 % and then 70-80% at lockdown.. is that right?

I was told to leave them upright for 72hrs then after that leave them in the carton but tilt at 45 angle and turn 3x day. Dont put them on their side. But none of mine with detached cells ever made it to hatch...good luck.

I incubated a bunch of shipped eggs last year with detached cells, only 1 of the eggs hatched, and that poor duckling had a twisted spine that I blame on the egg condition. This same hatch had a control group of eggs from my ducks--all of which hatched successfully-so I know the problem was the eggs, not the incubator. This year I'm only incubating eggs in good to excellent condition. It's a tough call because a good hatching egg costs around $2 to $5 a piece, right? Good luck! If you find the secret to hatching an egg with a bad air cell, please tell us all!

Alright, I put them in today. of all 22 one air cell was decent, most of the others seemed to be on the mend. I put them at a 40 degree angle in cardboard egg cartons and cushioned them with shredded paper, I figured a broody duck wouldn't have all around ventilation and I didn't want them to be too vertical, the humidity is around 49% and I would like it to be more like 55% but its hard to control.... I put the one with a good air cell on its side on the wire. I won't start turning them until the 15th or 16th

I'll be happy if I have 3 develop! I'll post pics of my setup if I get around to it.
