Hatching a Duckling

I have a duckling from a farm that im trying to hatch. I named her Mint the first day I got her. I have a feeling the duckling is a girl. I love her completely and am completely attached to her. From what I know today is day 30 of incubation for her. I saw online and read that even though some duck eggs look like mine does, the ducklings still hatched alive and healthy. My sister works on a farm a few times a week and the woman she works for said she is overrun by ducks and has over 200 of them. She's desperately trying to get rid of them instead of killing them because she loves animals too. The ducklings are free including the ones in eggs and the adults have a fee. I'm desperate to hatch Mint. Please tell me she's not dead. I've been crying and stressed a lot. My husband still doesn't know I have her. I don't want him to until she's hatched. I've wanted ducks since last summer and Mint can be my first one.

I did the last turn and candling on day 26 as everyone else said that I read from. When I checked her she's still alive because there were veins and she's not detached from the shell. What if she's shrink wrapped and needs help hatching? But I'm terrified to do anything to the egg and therefore to her because what if I'll kill her? From what I saw online on these late stages of growth and development is they're mostly dark masses and not a lot of veins or for some not any veins are seen anymore.

I just checked her and I smelled a rotten smell as soon as I took her out of her nest. I'm devastated. She's dead right?

Yes, sorry. She’s probably been dead for a little while now.

It happens.. Best to get attached and name them after they hatch. I wish you great luck if you try to hatch again

Is Mint a boy? It looks like a male part. I've never learned to know what a male part is and what a female part is. I get attached to some animals that aren't born yet. That's how I am.
