Hi,

I just wanted to know if a egg that was laid 3 to 5 weeks ago is possible to put under a broody hen to hatch? it is a fertilized egg that was done from the cockerel but the egg was kept in a box for a few weeks.

In my opinion I would say the egg has very little chance of hatching I believe the older the eggs are the less chance of viability there is. I have read before of eggs at approx 3 weeks hatching but I don't think I would chance it just incase the egg goes bad and jeopardises the rest of the eggs. But then again if you don't try you don't know. Also if the egg hasn't been turned while being stored that also reduces chance of hatching.
