Hatching and raising chicks

I didn't separate our hens from the others, but I only had 4 girls and 2 of them were on eggs. When they hatched, they all stayed together. Their "coop" is a 10x10 horse stall that was modified, so lots of room. I think it depends a lot on your particular setup.
Totally Agree, it really does depend on your set up. Last time, I only had 4 girls, and 1 of them broody, she only hatched 1 chick and the poor little thing was pecked every time the other girls got near him, so I had to seperate (within the run) for a couple of weeks, just until he got a bit bigger (and faster!!) I wonder if it's something to do with the breed or do all breeds do that?

I have a coop and run aswell and sometimes they get to free range. I have 8 hens and 4 Muscovy ducks in my flock. Is been 21/21 days so far and I still haven’t got any chicks yet. Is this normal?.
21 days is an average figure. I've had early hatching at 20 days and late at 24 days.
Today might be the day.:)
I've also had hens sit and not hatch any eggs something to bear in mind.

Ok thanks, I’m just wondering does it matter if u touch the eggs. My cousin also has a broody hen and her little son keeps picking them up.

Yes it does matter. The mother hen turns the eggs while she sits for the first 18 days. The last three days she gets the eggs into a particular position and you should not move them.

Ok thanks I will have to let her know, should she chuck them out now?
