I recently accepted a long-term substitute teacher position at a continuation high school. I decided to have my first unit be incubating chicken eggs. I have to tell you, what a satisfying endeavor. I started with 30 eggs I purchased from a family on craigslist. Five were not fertile, and 2 stopped developing. So that leaves 23 eggs. So far today, I have 17 successful hatches and 6 eggs in the incubator. Of those 6, two are pipping. I am hopeful the remaining 4 pip too. I have used Backyardchickens to research questions and to understand everything. This is a great resource.
