Well, I got an incubator, made sure the temperature was correct for 24 hours and then got some eggs to put in!! This is the first full day. I have a turner. Can't wait to start candeling!!!

Have fun. Hatching eggs is so much fund. I made a cabinet style incubator which was a mistake on one hand because it is almost big enough for me to crawl in and spend lockdown with the chicks. Which yes I did think about. LOL

Day 19 - 22 was the hardest for me. Once the first chick started hatching I spent most of the day laid out accross the top stareing in the windows I made, waiting for a peep or a pip.

Thanks for all the good luck wishes!!! Just curious to know what percentage of the eggs you incubate usually hatch?? i've head about 50%. I cheated today and candled a few of them, out of the four I looked at so far only one had a "spot" that looks like it is fertile. We bated 18 Welsummers, 6 Aracaunas and 6 mixed cochin/buff/aracauna. I'm excited, probably like most of you, won't get much sleep after that 19th day!

My husband calls me the crazy chicken lady, but said there was an upside because everytime he walked in the kitchen all he could see was my backside because I was laid out accross the incubator chanting pip, pip, pip. He did say the chanting was getting irritating but the view was worth it. Men!!!
