Here's my photo essay from the arrival of the shipped eggs to 7 week old chickens. The WHOLE process!

Oh, that was wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing!

I'm just now getting brave enough to candle eggs without "knowing" positively that I have somehow killed the occupants. Just candled the 7 BJG eggs in the 'bator and SIX are developing!

I see you outlined the air cells... when, at what stage did you do that, at lockdown? And why? I need to know if I should add that to my repertoire of "stuff I larned on BYC."

Great idea, and beautiful birds.

Love all the pictures and the candling ones are so clear, I haven't figured out how to do that yet, any tips.

Thanks! I bring the eggs into my dark pantry and hold my three dollar, Home Depot LED flashlight under my cupped hand. Then I take a photo with NO flash. I think I use the macro mode (the one with the little tulip picture). I hope that helps!

Awesome!! Thanks for the tip, I am going to try it. And I guess it is better when you have white eggs too!! I have been hatching so many colored eggs lately I forget how clearly you can see through white eggs.

Hi Linda! I use a pencil to outline the air cells starting around day 3 or so. It just gives me some idea about what's going on inside. If it keeps getting larger, I'm satisfied that it is continuing to develop. It's just a silly little thing I do to keep myself entertained while waiting those loooong 21 days!!

HOORAY for 6 out of 7!!! What does BJG stand for?
