I have some questions for those more experienced than me. I just added two hens to my flock. 1 lavender buff and and olive easter egger. Both hens were with roosters before I got them ( buff with buff, and EE w/EE) SO, I thought that since they were still fertile I would let them hatch out some chicks. So far, both hens prefer to lay in the same box and we are up to about 7 eggs. My question is do they lay a certain amount before starting to sitt on them? None of them are really laying on them during the day, but maybe a little at night. Will the already laid eggs still be able to hatch out if fertile? Will both hens go broody, and if so then what? Do I devide their eggs up and put them in different boxes?

If any chicks do hatch out, when can you take the chick out and put them I to a seperate area so my other hens don't bother them? Thanks in advance!

Do you have roosters In your flock? If you don't, then the eggs are not fertilized. A rooster has to mate with a hen the day she lays the egg for it to be fertilized. EEs rarely go broody but orpingtons do go broody and are known to be good mothers but you might still have to wait a loooooooooooooooooong time for your orpington to go broody. So if you do have a rooster in your flock I recommend you get an incubator.
