Hatching Chicks

We have eggs that were supposed to have hatched yesterday. As of today there is only one trying to make its way out. It has been pretty quiet for the last few hours and none of the other 10 are doing anything. How long should this take and is there something else we need to do?

what size eggs do you have? big ones take longer. Also day one for your eggs is the day after you place them. the may be taking longer if the incubator was not warm enough, too.

if they have pipped a hole it may take 24 hrs before they do anything. they pop a hole then rest and absorb that yolk.

if you do candle, shine a light on the pointy end if it looks like another air cell like on the round end it is not an aircell it is liquid. and it will not hatch. you can test an egg this way after day 16.

Has she wandered off the nest during her sitting period for over an hour. If so, the chicks will probably hatch soon, just be patient
