hi there, we are in the middle of a experiment we were out for a run with the kids, we live in Scotland lol we found a farm not very far away selling eggs, so me instantly thinking we could incubate them , they were actually for eating🙈😂,the women said she had drakes kicking about and there wasn’t any reason why they wouldn’t be fertile as she’d did it herself,so for the experiment we came home and I couldn’t wait and I set 6 eggs in the incubator on Thursday 13th feb at 12am, and gave our broody 6 eggs too, today is Sunday 16th and whilst my broody was out grabbing her 2 mins food and water I had a little peak and I could see some of them them had enlarged yolks just like the photo does on google images (this is our first time hatching ducks).there was 1 egg under our broody that you could see the spider veins and the others were a day behind as you could just see this (the pic I will post, when candleing it we could see the red veins starting keeping in mind were only day 4,any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated as to what I should be doing now ? Thank you

It's all a waiting game now. Duck eggs take 28 days and chickens only take 21. The hen may abandon the eggs at some point so you'd need to put them in the incubator. I hope everything works out! :jumpy

I’m using a Janoel 12 incubator to incubate 6 eggs at the moment and also a broody we are prepared for that to happen ,at the moment we’re setting up our bigger incubator as we are doing a hatch test for one of our friends to see what comes out as she didn’t have the space so hubby has now said there’s to many incubators lol 😂 but has just brought me a new one on eBay 🤔🤔 I cant take him seriously 😂

I do believe we have the very first signs of life in our duck eggs 🤞🤞🤞 not sure about the other eggs yet it’s still a little early but boy am I rather excited to see what the next few weeks brings I was just so excited to tell someone I couldn’t put it on Facebook as I’m experimenting to see if I can hatch my mum some little ducks for Mother’s Day I have brought her a coop and painted it all up made it more fox prrof and also a little broody box for where they will he kept u till the weathers better so I can write it on here and she can’t see so I can share my progress and save it for my reference 😊😊😊
