Hatching Duck Eggs On a Desk

So. My niece wrapped some duck eggs in a towel, set them on her desk and put a regular desk lamp on them. No thermometer, no nothing. And she sent me this picture this morning.

Why did I even buy an incubator?

Probably not, I plan on checking in with her about in in a week or so to see if the eggs are still viable, and if so then I will get serious about making her mom go over and help her out. Here's the set up.

I didn't even ask lol, I was in total shock that they looked so great! She doesn't know anything about incubating eggs, so she was asking if I thought it was even alive!

I'd say maybe day 7? I never incubated duck eggs, my gal was brood all the time so I never had to learn

She says 9-10 days or so.

She should also be turning the eggs about 3-5 times a day to keep the embryo from sticking to the sides (from what I know that is).
