Chick or duckling that pipps but does not zip. When a chick/duckling pipps, usually withing anywhere from an hour to as long as 24 hours can pass before the chick/duckling will zip. If they don't, that may indicate something is wrong. Assisting a chick or duckling hatch is a risky thing to do. Unless your experienced, I would either seek the advice of a vet or a local hatchery. A couple of the more common problems that prevent a chick from zipping is either some incubator adjustment prevents it from happening. The problem is usually caused by either 1) poor ventilation or 2) improper humidity. I hope this helps. But to learn more, you could either research it online, or better, talk to a local chicken/duck hatchery and seek their experience and knowledge. They will be your best resource for knowledge.
Thank you but My question was specific to the deformation. We’re you able to see the pictures?
I think so but I have been doing this only about six months and never had one like this. Usually they all pop and hatch well. I’ve only had one with a curled foot.Is that yolk sac that didn't absorb?
