I am in the middle of the hatch of Coturnix chicks but despite them not being due till tonight they started to hatch on Saturday. They are so early I barely got them out of the turner! This were mailed so I am wondering. Would it have been possible for the embryo to start growning in the warm trucks??? Anyone ever had this happen or thoughts as to why. I have had a good steady temp of 99.5 the whole time.

It is possible that they started development before you got them. I've had coturnix hatch anywhere from 15-23 days, so 14 is not all that much early.

I'm hoping that more of them didn't start and die somewhere in the process. They have been really stinky!

my bator runs at 99.5 and is a solid redwood classic. everything i put in it hatches a day or 2 early. i hatch chicks on day 19 usually quail at day 14-15 turkeys at day 25-26. it might have to do with how our bators reatain heat and moisture. i know with mine redwood absorbs andretains both well

My other chicks were on time that were placed the same time so that is why I was worried about starting early development.
