Good morning,

I just received some eggs from from Meyer's Hatchery. On their website it says to wait 12 hours to place eggs into incubator upon receipt of shipment. What is the reason for this? When i opened the box, they felt cold to the touch and it worried me a bit. They are Buff Orpington eggs. Thank you.

you want them to settle after being in the mail and being shaken around. sometimes air cells become detached etc. so this gives them a chance to stick back on where they should. you want to have them resting pointy side down for 12-24 hrs before you set them.

Just like @junior67 said, the air sacs sometimes get detached during shipping. It also lets them warm up or cool down to room temperature. Let them sit for 12-24 hours, pointy side down in an area with a stable temperature (at around 65-70 degrees) in a dark quite place.

Are you doing a hatch a long? I have eggs coming from Meyer in a few weeks and would love to see how yours progress! ❤️
